Man! It was hot as crap and we were celebrating my 60th birthday. Then I blinked and the trees are bare, we have turned back the clocks and Thanksgiving weekend plans are bearing down!
I don’t care what anyone says, the time is moving faster now. I used to be able to get way more done in less time and it’s not because I’m older. For how long I’ve been doing these things, it makes more sense that I’d be able to accomplish MORE in LESS time!
What is time, anyway? We measure our time passing by the revolutions of our planet, and it’s traverse around the sun. If the standard by which we measure time changes, would we be able to ascertain this? I AM able, since it directly affects my productivity!
Understand that I’m just making a point here and I’m not as upset about it as it would seem from the discourse. But once in a while, I get tickled about the scientists and astronomers measuring the evolution of our galaxy in terms of how we measure time. For instance, how can the age of our sun be calculated when the planet istelf has only been revolving around it for 4 million years (or whatever)? Before the establishment of our current galactic position, there was no way to measure time as we know it. It stands to reason, then, that as the process continues (our galactic evolution), the current measure of time would also evolve and change.
In our complacence and arrogance as a species, we can’t accept that a quantum acceleration in galactic activity is possible for us to experience or even determine. We are pretty addicted to how things are and so we cling to our collective denial.
I have a couple of hats to make before next week, and I’ll be munching on mint m&ms while I knit them.
A Post Script: Last night we saw an amazing performance of Naturally 7, and so I found this video to share:
Percentage-wise, there haven’t been this many people at the poles since 1908!! And for me, this is the first time in my life that the candidate I voted for has been elected. (Although I was in favor of both Carter and Clinton, I didn’t vote in those elections).
I want to say, though, that John McCain’s concession speech was especially intelligent and elegant. I do not dislike this man, and have noticed that he is not afraid to cross party lines for appropriate purposes. Also, he was one of the few proponents of Freedom of Speech while we were in the throes of anxiety over the errant remark made by Natalie Maines a few years ago.
I live in a state where the majority of voters chose McCain. A lot of these people have stubbornly flown the “support our president, troops and country” flag throughout the unsettled and unsure times of the recent past. It will be interesting to see how they adjust (or don’t) with this new administration. Especially in light of the racial ignorance. Many people here (I have heard them SAY this) assume that Obama is a muslim, and fear the similarity between his name and that of Osama bin Laden. (even tho W was friends with bin Laden’s family!!)
At any rate, I am glad the campaigns and debates (and the debasing of opponents) are over. I’m sending peaceful vibrations into the future for profound changes in communication, service and unity. Not just within our borders, but globally. And I believe this new administration will help to facilitate these changes.
It was pretty easy, and as the machine at our voting site malfunctioned early, the ladies maning the site encouraged us to use the paper option. I’m not sure if people in other parts of the country actually HAVE that option.
Also, the majority of candidates running for local positions ran unopposed so, easy choice there. And wherever there was a candidate representing the “mountain” party, they got my vote. The mountain party seems to champion a ‘greener’ perspective.
I will NOT, however, glue myself to the counting and tabulating process. I trust that whatever the results are, that’s what they are, and all will be well. Making history either way: First black (half-black) pres, or first woman vp, so the future holds interesting promise.
I have come down from the previous anxiety (yesterday’s rant). It put me in mind of Savasana (yogic corpse pose). Orienting oneself in this pose requires the flexing and releasing of groups of muscles for the purpose of establishing complete relaxation, followed by Pranayama, mindful breathing.
After I posted my tirade, I was then able to observe the emotional anxiety present, and now receding, and now gone. If you are an occasional reader, and my post from yesterday turned you off, I apologize. The verbage employed served a getting off of the anger, and I truly don’t care about how people vote, who wins the election or what dance the politicians do. These are yet more distractions. It all keeps us so busy that we are not inclined to relax and breathe–the only action (inaction, actually) necessary for ascension.
What happens in this election will have no effect whatsoever on whether or not I grow spiritually, except in having the opportunity to mindfully let it go, forgive all what I consider to be grievances and wrongdoings involved in the process, and send love and blessings to each and every person involved.
I remember, now, that things only have the meaning I give them, and these things mean we are growing and learning on a level where profound positive change is always in progress. Love (God) lurks just behind the veil of illusion that we mistake for reality. See how far I stilll have to go?
Much like it is with addiction and sobriety, I must be sick before I can experience recovery. And it becomes more and more apparent that in this life, recovery is the most productive and self-changing vehicle of all.
